RFID Sherpas LLC is a management consulting practice focused exclusively on the retail sector. The company serves a global base of retailers, merchandise vendors, technology providers and industry associations as an advisor on all facets of Retail RFID, including matters of strategy, project design, implementation, and business case analysis. In addition to helping clients utilize RFID practically and profitably in stores and other retail operating environments, the company plays an active role at the association level, fostering education and adoption of item-level RFID within the retail community.
About The Founder
Marshall Kay is an RFID specialist and retail strategist. Marshall is particularly well known for his work validating and articulating the business case for item-level RFID, not only in apparel and footwear, but also in categories like consumer electronics, books and media, cosmetics and luxury goods. Prior to launching RFID Sherpas LLC Marshall led the North American RFID practice of global management consulting firm Kurt Salmon Associates (KSA). He has helped retailers and suppliers in North America, Europe and Asia put RFID to profitable use.
Marshall co-authored the influential white paper “Moving Forward with Item-Level RFID in Apparel and Footwear,” a report published by VICS and the American Apparel & Footwear Association as a blueprint for adoption of RFID. Marshall has served on the steering committee of the Item-Level RFID Working Group run jointly by these two leading industry associations. Marshall also authored the widely circulated report “RFID: Well Within Reach”, a special supplement to the October 2006 issue of Apparel Magazine.
A popular speaker at industry conferences, Marshall is a repeat contributor to RFID Journal and has been interviewed by Fortune, STORES, Apparel Magazine, and Women’s Wear Daily for his perspectives on RFID and collaborative commerce. Marshall holds an MBA from the University of Michigan Business School.
